Registered with the British Wheel of Yoga, I offer a hybrid type of yoga founded in Hatha. I bring together an understanding of the history and tradition of yoga with an enthusiasm for health and wellbeing.

Do I need to be fit?
Absolutely not!
Yoga is about moving your body in a way that feels good. Forget what you see on social media and forget what other people are doing. It's just you and your breath on the mat, moving in the way that feels right for you.

All postures and movements have adjustments and modifications.

Typical class
We start by settling, arriving and bringing awareness to the body and breath.

Fiercely Calm yoga is all about the central nervous system, so we'll do some scientifically proven breathing exercises that soothe and activate the 'rest and digest' nervous system.

We'll ease into postures by gently mobilising the right bits of our bodies. We'll build towards something that gently challenges our strength, balance and flexibility.

Sessions are carefully planned to provide scaled options, modifications and adjustments.

After all that lovely movement, and the relief of mobilising all your stiff bits, we'll settle into a guided relaxation: you'll release your weight into the mat in a lying position and enjoy the delicious feeling of tension releasing. We take time to let the benefits of yoga settle into your nervous system.

Expect better sleep and less anxiety as a result of your regular practice.

"I found the class to be extremely interesting, as Steph explained snippets of yoga history relevant to what we were doing. Instructions were calm and concise. Multiple options offered for each pose. Good breath work, which was very well explained and I really enjoyed it."

About me
After a decade enjoying fierce workouts and challenges like CrossFit and marathon running, a serious injury demanded that I reevaluate.

Life is packed with stresses and pressure. Compound this with adrenaline fuelled workouts and the body starts to show the effects of too much 'fight or flight' and not enough 'rest and digest'. I found myself searching for balance.
In 2023 I made the decision to qualify with the British Wheel of Yoga as an instructor. I got fierce about being calm and interested in helping others do the same!

I hold Qualified Teacher Status and have a PhD in Cultural Heritage. I'm currently undertaking a Level 4 Yoga Teaching Diploma with the BWY. I combine an interest in the tradition and history of yoga with an enthusiasm for health and wellbeing.

I offer a hybrid type of yoga founded in Hatha.

I believe everyone, regardless of fitness, experience, interest or inclination, can experience the benefits of yoga.

"The class felt very 'individual' and spiritual. Loved it!"

A great start to a Friday, I headed off to work feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Steph created such a relaxing and safe space for us all to really reflect on ourselves and take some time out to just unwind. It was a great experience and will definitely be going again!
This class is excellent and very informative if you have never attended a yoga class before. Excellent for beginners or like me not attended a class for a while.
